Rochelle Puryear Obituary

Rochelle Naomi Puryear gained her wings on September 29, 2023. Rochelle's journey began on January 20, 1985, when she was born at Arlington Hospital to her parents, Steven and Veronica Puryear. Her life was marked by remarkable achievements, dedication to her family, and her tremendous fighting spirit.

Rochelle graduated in 2003 from Robert E. Lee High School, where she excelled academically and emerged as a top student in her class. After completing high school, she pursued her degree at Northern Virginia Community College.

Rochelle was a multi-talented individual. She had a musical gift, she played the clarinet in high school, and she served as the lead soloist at Antioch Baptist Church, where her voice touched the hearts of many.

Rochelle's professional journey led her to become a supervising surgical assistant at Fairfax Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, where she dedicated six years of her life to the field. She consistently exhibited exceptional skill and compassion, earning the respect of her colleagues and patients alike.

Rochelle also shared a special bond with her beloved princess dog companion, Laylah.  As a doting mom, she showered Laylah with love and care, creating cherished memories that spanned many years. Their bond was a testament to Rochelle's nurturing and compassionate nature, extending her warmth and affection not only to her human loved ones but also to her loyal furry friend, Laylah.

Rochelle's vibrant life was enriched by her diverse interests and deep connections. She had a passion for exploring new places, savoring the joy of travel, and creating lasting memories along the way. She was known as an adoring aunt, a loving daughter, and a cherished sister. Her family was at the center of her heart, and she brought warmth and laughter into their lives. Rochelle was a rare gem that our family was blessed to have.  No matter the circumstances, she kept a smile on her face.

Indeed, Rochelle fought an honorable and courageous battle against her illness, serving as an inspiration to all who were fortunate to witness her strength and determination. Her resilience in the face of adversity was a testament to her character and an example of the indomitable human spirit. Rochelle's legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her, reminding us of the power of courage, faith, and perseverance through trials and tribulations.

Rochelle is survived by her father, Steven Puryear; mother, Veronica Puryear; sister, Desiree Puryear; brother, Joshua Puryear; nephew, Quentin Wingate-Poe, and a host of family and friends.
