Robert Lee Hughes

Robert Lee Hughes, 79, of Manassas, VA, passed September 7, 2022.

He was born in Amissville, VA on March 3, 1943, to the late Harrison Hughes and to the late Lucrecia Hughes.  He preceded in death by three sisters: Mary, Rose, and Genie: two brothers: Marshall and Charles; four nephews: his granddaughter, Kesha Pendleton, and his loving companion, Shirley “Nanny” Phillips.

Robert Hughes better known to all of us as “DAD” is survived by his wife, Josephine Hughes of Hagerstown, MD; one sister, Ada Hughes of Philadelphia, PA; one brother, William Hughes Jr. of Culpeper, VA; his five children: Christine Roberts of Manassas, VA, Bobby Hughes of Stephen City, VA, Ann Hughes of Manassas, VA, Harrison Hughes of Stephen City, VA, and Charles Jr. of Hagerstown, MD; four step-children: Gale Turner of Woodville, VA, James Phillips, Jr of Amissville, VA, George Phillips of Arizona, and Margaret Lewis of Manassas, VA; 23 grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; his dear devoted son-in-law, Keith Roberts and a special friend, Shirley Fry.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, 12:00 pm, at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, 705 Viewtown Road, Amissville, Virginia, 20106. 

Minister Wesley Cropp will deliver the eulogy.
