Patricia Jean Haley was born November 26, 1946, in Middleburg, Virginia, to the late Hattie L. Strozier and Elwood Hall. Patsy departed this life on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton, Virginia.
Patsy grew up in Middleburg and received her elementary education at Banneker Elementary School in St. Louis, Virginia, and her high school diploma in 1964 from Douglas High School in Leesburg, Virginia. While at Douglas, she was a member of the Home Economics club and developed many lifelong friendships. Patsy was blessed with three children Pamela, Hope, and Ryan. Patsy, the youngest of seven siblings, thought there was nothing like her older brother Larry, she did everything he did or told her to do. She had a great sense of humor and would put a smile on everyone’s face.
From a young age, you would find Patsy in the kitchen with mother Hattie or Aunt Tweed. She sat on a stool in the kitchen and admired their every move which fueled her love for cooking. All the time she spent watching paid off because she had amazing cooking skills.
Patsy worked 40+ years for several families as a caregiver and domestic worker. She worked for the Bouter, Sigman, Achilles, and Jones families, to name a few. Where she planned and prepared anywhere from daily family meals to large dinner parties.
As a child through early adulthood Patsy was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Middleburg, Virginia, where she faithfully served as church secretary for many years. One of Patsy’s favorite annual church events was the Harvest Home Festival. Her Christmas bars were a hot selling item. Patsy was baptized on August 27, 2009, by Pastor Rodney L. Smith, Sr. and received the right hand of fellowship at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Morgantown, Virginia, on October 18, 2009.
Patsy loved her children and grandchildren with everything in her. She often brought them lunch, volunteered at their schools, chaperoned many field trips, and spent many many days out in the heat while they stayed cool in the pool. She also drove several friends to medical appointments or took them grocery shopping. Most recently, she delivered meals to low income and underserved students in Fauquier County. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to her family, friends and anyone in need.
To honor and cherish her memory, she leaves her three loving children: Hope (Brockman) Wallace of Marshall, Virginia, Ryan Brent of Culpeper, Virginia, and Pamela Haley of Jacksonville, North Carolina. Her pride and joy were her eight grandchildren: Alecys, Brockman II, and Alayna of Marshall, Virginia; Dominique, Shauanne, Shaun, Jr., Shauntay, and Shondel of Jacksonville, North Carolina. She was blessed to have two great-grandchildren that stole her heart, Harmony and Alaya; two siblings: Elwood “Ted” Hall and Mary “Libbs” (Herbert) Randolph both of Leesburg, Virginia; two sisters-in-law: Ollie Hall of Middleburg, Virginia and Helen Hall of Manassas, Virginia; two brothers-in-law: Curtis Hatcher of Middleburg, Virginia and Calvin Clark of Charlotte, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, Elwood and Hattie Hall, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Larry and Harold Hall; sisters: Barbara Hatcher and Carolyn Clark; sister-in-law, Martha Hall; and companion Golden Brent.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 11:00 am, at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, 4679 Free State Road, Marshall, Virginia, 20115. Pastor Rodney L. Smith, Sr. will deliver the eulogy.
