"Nana" Warren, of Manassas, VA, was born August 21, 1935, in Cincinnati, OH, to Mary Tate and Melvin Washington. Our sweet angel gained her wings July 25, 2024, and she now rests in paradise with her Lord and family members called home before her.
Known lovingly as Nana by friends and family, she never met a stranger. She was known for her big heart and abundant spirit of giving. She lived her life as a trustworthy, dependable, and loving person whose inner light shined brightly and warmed the souls of those around her.
Her life calling was taking care of people, and she owned this responsibility whether it was her personal or professional life. During her working years, she was a Certified Nursing Assistant and later became a Med Tech, a position she held until she retired. Her call was in the medical field, a passion she would pass down to her daughter as well.
Melvina was married to the late Bennie Warren and of that union was blessed with two children - the late Charles Anthony Warren, Sr. and Sheryl Warren. Nana was also blessed early in life with two precious boys: the late Mitchell Allen Washington and Darwin Phillip Washington.
At a young age, she professed her faith to God, was baptized, and answered the call to serve. She was a faithful member of Christian Love Community Church in Jacksonville, FL under the leadership of her dear friend and pastor, Elder Thomas Felix III, until she relocated to Virginia. She served her church as a nurse, choir member, and Church Mother for many years.
Nana's love for children blessed her with many bonus children: Mignon Jennings, Bridgette Saffo, Elaine Cook, Darlena Cook, and Harvey & Renee Warren-Peoples to name a few. The impact she left in their hearts and minds resonated with them throughout their lives and she prided herself on the love and time she gave to each and every one.
Nana is survived by her children: Darwin Washington, Sheryl R. Warren, Nathan Washington and daughter-in-love, Lena Warren as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members. She will truly be missed.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, 12 PM, at Joynes Funeral Home, 29 N. Third St., Warrenton, VA 20186.
