Mary Esther (Williams) Nibblins

Mary Esther Nibblins, affectionally known as “Tenny,” was called home peacefully and quietly to be with the Lord on June 9, 2022, at her residence in Warrenton, Virginia.

Mary was born September 7, 1936, in Culpeper County, Virginia, to Murray and Alice Williams.

Mary was one of nine children.  She was preceded in death by five brothers: Earl Gray, Roy Gray, Sr., Joseph Williams, Morris Williams, Herman Williams; and one sister, Georgia Banks. 

She received her education in the Fauquier County Public School System.  Mary was employed for over 20 years at the Oak Springs Nursing Home in Warrenton, Virginia.

Mary joined Upper Zion Baptist Church in Jeffersonton, Virginia, at an early age.  She was a Deaconess, served on the Usher Board, member of the Pastor’s Aide Club, and worked in the culinary department while she was a member.  Mary later joined the Rising Zion Baptist Church, which she truly enjoyed.  When the Covid-19 pandemic affected many worldwide, she continued to enjoy church online. 

Mary’s hobbies were playing bingo, telling jokes, and watching, as she called it, “her TV shows,” like Gunsmoke and several games shows.  

Mary met and married Harrison Nibblins, Jr. in 1955 and they were married until his death in 2013.  From this union they had two daughters: Rev. Judy Johnson of Culpeper, Virginia, and Roberta Jackson (Kenneth) of Jeffersonton, Virginia; three grandchildren: LaWanda Mack (LaShaun) of Dumfries, Virginia, Kieona Jackson of Irving, Texas, and Charles E. Newman, Jr. (Faith) of Unionville, Virginia; two great-grandchildren: Micah and Mykiah Mack of Dumfries, Virginia; and four step grandchildren.  Mary is also survived by two sisters: Josephine Butler (Norman) of Bealeton, Virginia, and Barbara O’Banion of Warrenton, Virginia; five sisters-in-law; and six brothers-in-law.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, from 10 am until 11 am with funeral services starting at 11 at Rising Zion Baptist Church, 18168 Springs Road, Jeffersonton, Virginia, 22724.  Rev. Dr. Harrison Williams will officiate and Pastor Jerome Gipson, Sr. will deliver the eulogy.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens, Jeffersonton, VA.
