Lucy Helena (Brown) Samuel

Lucy Helena Samuel of Manassas, VA, (known by family and friends as Helena) gained her heavenly wings on July 4, 2024, at the age of 77.  Lucy was born on November 28, 1946, to the union of the late Charles Mercer and Lucy E. Brown in Warrenton, Virginia. Lucy was the sixth of seven children: six sisters and one brother. 

She attended Fauquier County Public Schools. Afterwards she married Percell Samuel and settled down to be a housewife. Together, they had three lovely children Evette, Lynnette, and Percell Jr. 

Lucy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and great-aunt. Lucy is survived by her daughter, Evette Bell; grandchildren: Candice and Marcus Ferguson; and great-grandchildren: Maliyah, Marcus, Jr., Christian, and Chayse Ferguson, all of Manassas, VA; and three sisters: Doris Young of Hyattsville, MD; Clarice Newman of Arlington, VA; Geraldine Tanks of Columbia, MD; and niece/daughter, LaShawnya Tanks of Columbia, MD. Lucy had numerous nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, family and friends. 

Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 18, 2024, 11 am until 12 pm, with funeral services starting at 12 pm, at the Northern Virginia Baptist Center, 14019 Glenkirk Road, Gainesville, VA, 20156. Rev. George D. Carlisle will deliver the eulogy.
 
Interment will be in Bright View Cemetery, Warrenton, VA.
