Julia R. O’Banion, passed peacefully August 19, 2021, at Grande Village Retirement Community in Twinsburg, OH. She celebrated her 76th birthday one week prior on August 12th. She was born and raised in Fauquier County and was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Rectortown, VA.
A devoted family woman, Julia was preceded in death by father, John R. Jackson; mother Ella Jackson; brothers: John R. Jackson, Jr, Henry L. Jackson, and James E. Jackson; and sister, Ella Jackson. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Delancie; daughter, Danielle; two sisters: Katie Wines and Catherine (Fred) Carter; sisters-in-law: Vanessa (James) Jackson, Janice James; and a brother-in-law, Carey O’Banion, Jr. She was also blessed with a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Julia was a quick-witted, life-long learner. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and quality time with family. She spent most of her professional life as a domestic worker which allowed her to combine many of her passions. Upon her retirement, three persons were hired to fulfill the role she held alone. She (and her rolls, apple pies, etc.) will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joynes Funeral Home will host family and friends on Monday, August 30, 2021. Walk through visitation will be held 11 am to 12 pm with a private funeral service to follow at 12pm. For everyone’s safety, COVID safety guidelines of physical distancing and masking will be followed.
Interment will be in Mt. Morris Community Cemetery, Hume, VA.
