Harold Stanley Morton, 89, of Warrenton, VA, completed his life’s story on March 8, 2024. He was the oldest child born to the late Robert and Elsie Morton on January 8, 1935, in Washington, D.C.
Harold grew up in Catlett, VA and graduated from Taylor High School. He served in the United States army for two years and was enlisted in the reserves for four years. Harold was a chef for 26 years and was employed by Warren’s Char-Broiler and Marriott Inflight Service at Washington Dulles International Airport. He changed his profession and became a full-time painter at Vint Hill Farms for 10 years and in 1996 he became the sexton at St. James Episcopal Church in Warrenton until he retired. In 1980 he and his wife started a catering business, “A Touch of Love,” and worked endlessly along with their children for 40 years.
Harold gave his life to Christ at an early age and remained a faithful and committed servant at Hearts Delight Baptist Church in Catlett, VA.
Harold loved jigsaw puzzles and word finds. He enjoyed singing and painting and was an awesome “Mr. Fix It,” but his passion and love for his family exceeded them all. His meek and gentle spirit along with his calm demeanor made him special and so loved by all. 1 Timothy 4:12 says, “Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith and your purity.”
Harold’s memories will be held in the hearts of those he treasured: His wife of 66 years, Diane; his children: Aneva Carter (Greg), Yvette Coleman (Monte) and Brian Morton (Kim); his grandchildren: Jasmine Ford (Terrence), Whitney Herron (DWann), Kyndall Coleman, Spencer Carter (Samantha), Kyle Coleman (Jamie), Kia Morton; His great-grands: Jace, Jaelle, Jensen, Karter, Channing, Kamren, Kash, Mila, and Londyn; His beloved god-children: Jay, Barry, and Melandie; his siblings: Delores Claytor, Yvonne McNeil, Otis Morton (Jerri), Loretta Farmer (George), Leonard Morton (Sheila), Robert Morton (Debbie), and Eleanor Porter; one brother-in-law Donald Claytor; One sister-in-law Eva Harris; and a host of precious nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
