Barbara Lee Joynes, 88, of Silver Spring, Maryland, after a lengthy illness, passed March 21, 2026, at Gilchrist Hospice Care, Columbia, Maryland.
Barbara, a former resident of Warrenton, Virginia, graduated from Taylor High School and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Howard University.
She was employed as a Budget Analyst with the federal government for 44 years and a co-owner of the Joynes Funeral Home, Warrenton, Virginia.
She was the daughter of the late Henry and Augustine Joynes. Her sister, Mary Joynes Jackson preceded her in death in 2019.
She is survived by a brother, G. Woodson (Mabel) Joynes, of Warrenton, Virginia; a sister, Lois Joynes Wysinger of Owings Mills, MD, four nephews: Gary W. Joynes, New York, NY, Hugo V. (Annie) Jackson of Ellicott City, MD, Darryl S. (Dianne) Joynes of Warrenton, VA; and Roosevelt Wysinger of Owings Mills, MD; great nephews: Van Jackson, Varon (Jessica) Jackson, and Daniel Joynes; and other cousins, relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 11 am until 12 pm with funeral services starting at 12 pm at First Baptist Church, 39 Alexandria Pike, Warrenton, Virginia, 20186. Rev. Vinicent Holland, Sr. will deliver the eulogy.
Interment will be in Warrenton Cemetery, Warrenton, Virginia.
