Arlette Patricia (Robinson) Nickens

Arlette Patricia (Robinson) Nickens, age 83, of Warrenton, Virginia, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, at the Adler Center for Caring in Aldie, Virginia. She was born on March 7, 1943, in Washington, D.C., to the late Rudolph E. Robinson and Lois B. Robinson.

Arlette was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was married to her loving husband, Leonard D. Nickens, for 54 years. She retired from the United States Postal Service and lived a life filled with love, family, travel, music, football, and special memories.

She loved traveling with her family, and one of her favorite places was Disney World. It was there that she created lasting memories with her children, grandchildren, and many other family members. Arlette was a strong advocate for family and friends, and she had a special way of leaving a positive and loving mark on everyone she met. Whether famous or not, she treated people with kindness, warmth, and joy.

Arlette also enjoyed music and dancing. Motown artists were some of her favorites, and her favorite singer was Patti LaBelle. Her love for music reflected the joy and energy she carried throughout her life.

Arlette was also a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan who loved football, especially her team. Her Cowboys pride could be seen everywhere, from her shoes, outfits, and accessories to the decorations throughout her home and even on her car. Her love for the Cowboys was part of her personality, and it brought joy, conversation, and laughter to those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by oldest son, Leonard R. Nickens, and sister, Muriel Britt.

Arlette is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Leonard D. Nickens; youngest son, Eric D. Nickens (Nichole);  Daughter-In-Law Nicole Nickens; grandchildren, Georgia T. Nickens, Eric D. Nickens Jr., Genna M. Nickens and Maxwell A. Nickens; brother, Rudolph Robinson, (Francine); lifelong friend Janice Young along with several nieces, nephews, friends, and family members.

Arlette will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to family, her joyful spirit, her strength, her Cowboys pride, and the many cherished memories she created with those she loved. Although her presence will be deeply missed, her love, laughter, and legacy will continue to live in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.

A memorial service will take place on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 11 am with family gathering at 10:45 am at mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1300 Bladensburg Road, NE, Washington, DC, 20002.
