Rev. Joe Willie Ellis

Rev. Joe W. Ellis, of Woodbridge, Virginia, took flight to heaven on June 15, 2019.  Rev. Ellis was the Associate Pastor at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfax, Virginia.  He is a 20 year Veteran (Army) and worked at the U.S. State Department since 1992.  Rev. Ellis leaves to cherish his memory:  his lovely wife, Dr. Esther Johnson-Ellis; two sons, Maurice Sr. and Byron; one daughter, Valda; one son-in-law, Rev. Dr. Jeffery O. Johnson, Sr., seven grandchildren, Maurice Jr., Christian, Bryce, Jeffery, Margaret-Esther, Colbi, Tristin (Christian); one great-grandson Xavier; four sisters, Shirley, Willease, Elizabeth (Pastor Rodrigo), Sadie (Charles); one brother, Bradley; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Rev. Ellis was a true man of God and modeled his Christian faith.  For him, the Bible was his guidepost and the inerrant word of God  His favorite verse was  John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 29, 2019, from 9 am until 10 am with funeral services starting at 10 am at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church 4325 Chain Bridge Rd. Fairfax, Virginia. 22030. Rev. Dr. Jeffery Johnson will deliver the eulogy.

Interment with military honors will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019, 11 AM, at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, Virginia, 22712.
